ADHD evaluation and treatment
ADHD Psychiatrist in Miami for Children and Adults
Individualized ADHD evaluation and psychiatric treatment planning for children age 5 and older, teens, and adults with Dr. Brian Villa MD.
ADHD symptoms can affect attention, organization, impulse control, activity level, emotional regulation, school, work, and relationships. A careful psychiatric evaluation looks at the full picture rather than relying on a single checklist or online quiz.
When an ADHD evaluation may help
Children, teens, and adults may seek an evaluation for persistent difficulty with attention, organization, time management, impulsivity, restlessness, task completion, or emotional regulation. Similar concerns can also occur with anxiety, depression, sleep problems, learning differences, medical conditions, medication effects, or other factors, so context matters.
What the evaluation considers
The assessment may review developmental history, symptoms across settings, school or work functioning, sleep, medical and psychiatric history, medications and supplements, substance use, family history, prior treatment, and the patient or family goals. Additional records or collateral information may be useful when available.
Individualized treatment planning
Recommendations depend on the individual evaluation. Treatment planning may include education, behavioral or organizational strategies, talk therapy, medication discussion, monitoring, coordination with other clinicians, or referral when another specialty or level of care is more appropriate.

Frequently asked questions
Can an online quiz diagnose ADHD?
No. Online questionnaires may help identify questions to discuss, but diagnosis requires a comprehensive clinical evaluation and consideration of other possible explanations.
Do adults ever receive an ADHD evaluation?
Yes. Adults may seek evaluation for longstanding attention, organization, impulsivity, or executive-function concerns. The clinician reviews developmental history and current functioning in context.
Does an ADHD evaluation guarantee medication?
No. Medication is discussed only when clinically appropriate after reviewing potential benefits, risks, alternatives, health history, and patient circumstances.
Can children be evaluated by telehealth?
Telehealth may be available for eligible patients, but the appropriate format depends on age, clinical needs, safety, and applicable requirements.
